Falloe is a Melbourne based electric folk/roots band that first formed in January of 2006. Over the past 5½ years the 5 piece band have been kept busy honing their craft in the alternative clubs & bars of Melbourne’s inner north, as well as the regional towns of Ballarat, Bendigo, Woodend, St Arnaud, Portland and Geelong.
To date they have released one full length studio album, entitled “The Diamond & the Thief” (2009), two EPs, entitled “The Ballad of Jimmy James” (2008) and “Dead Dogs” (2008) and two video singles “Science of the Heart” (2011) & “August 8th” (2009)

Falloe’s performance takes you into the hearts and minds of lovers, dreamers, drunkards, demons and everyday no-bodies and no hopers. Their song writing is hinged by friends who clearly have a love of creating music together. Fusing folk, roots, blues & rock with both emotive and spirited results, Falloe construct music that encourages the audience to drink, dance, cry, shimmer or smile. . . . And quite often, all of the above.
The band members and instrumentation include –
Wade F Piva - Lead Vocal, Acoustic Guitar, Tambourine & Melodica
Rennie Paonessa - Guitars, Harmonica, Piano Accordion & Vocals
Neil Tolentino - Bass, Guitar, Washboard & Vocals
Peter Guidera - Drums & Percussion
Rob Murray - Guitars, Keyboards, Piano Accordion & Vocals
As described by freelance writer, Jeff Dowsing
“Falloe is a unique and immediately gratifying fusion of Folk, Roots, Blues & Rock music. A cohesive purity shines through the melting pot of influences, drawn from a diverse array of backgrounds. Their bitter-sweet melodies are complimented by old world themes and absorbing lyrics.”

On song to pick winners at Darebin Music Feast
by Julia Irwin
Wade Piva is the singer and guitarist from Falloe, which won the open gong at the Darebin Songwriters' Award.
EVERYONE was a winner in the Songwriters’ Awards finals at Darebin Music Feast, but only three contestants could go home with prizes.
The annual awards, held at Northcote Uniting Church Hall last Sunday, were judged by distinguished local songwriters Jen Cloher, Peter Farnan and Ash Naylor, who admitted to having difficulty selecting winners from the strong field.
“All the songs were amazing and there were no failures about the day,” Naylor said.
“It was perplexing judging a songwriting award because music is not a contest.”
But the judges dusted off their reservations to identify three winners and, judging from the audience applause, they were right on the money.
Duo Falloe, comprising Wade Piva and Rob Murray, won the APRA Open Award for their song Science of the Heart, Decibels’ Youth Award went to 13-year-old Jess Jong for Lucky and Peter Bodin took out the Above Love Theme Award with Merri Merri Little River. “It’s a tricky place to be in, to judge people’s artistic output,” Cloher said.
“But the lyrics and having something to say that’s original is ... important.”
There were 130 entries in this year’s Darebin Music Feast Songwriters Awards. Past winners include admired artists Jordie Lane, Ben Mason, Sal Kimber, Amy Alexander, Dan Dinnen and E-Wah Lady.

Read the winning lyrics: Falloe claims top songwriters' gong
by Julia Irwin
Darebin Music Feast Songwriters’ Award winners Wade Piva and Rob Murray of Falloe.
NAMES like Lennon and McCartney, Jagger and Richards, and Rodgers and Hammerstein are reminders that two heads are often better than one when it comes to songwriting.
Darebin Music Feast songwriters Open Award winners Wade Piva and Rob Murray worked on their entry, Science of the Heart, and swear by the collaborative approach.
“We respect each other’s skills,” Piva said, after the Alphington duo won the Open Award. which comprises $1200 cash, studio time, mastering and duplication services.
“We each possess what the other lacks.
“I work out the basic structure and write the lyrics and Rob is more musical than I am and can sit down and write the song arrangements.”
The two formed Falloe after Piva saw Murray playing at St Arnaud Festival. “He was singing solo, playing guitar and playing bass with his feet,” Piva said.
Three years on they are applying the finishing touches to their self-titled debut album in between day jobs: Murray is a truck driver and Piva an opportunity shop manager.
Piva said Science of the Heart was about the give and take required to make a relationship work and was inspired by his “better half”.
“My partner, Sharni Wenitong, is a constant source of inspiration,” he said.
